The policy of Japan in the Asia-Pacific: major trends and directions

Abstract

The purposes of Japan's foreign policy are to ensure national security and strengthening the position of Japan in the international arena. The main foreign partner and ally of Japan are traditionally the United States of America. Japan focuses on the cooperation with key players in the Asia-Pacific region (China, Russia and the Republic of Korea). Japan is interested in resolving the North Korean nuclear issue. In General, Japanese diplomacy in a timely manner to respond to new threats and challenges in the Asia Pacific region.
